Protection, aka CHVRCHES’ Iain Cook and fellow respected Glasgow musician/producer Scott Paterson drop the third single ‘THX’ (August 4th) from their upcoming ‘SEEDS II’ EP.

With nods to the 80s/90s eras of dance with percussion heavy explorations that span the genre spectrum from ambient to breakbeat to DnB, this latest body of work is an evolution of the duo's developing sound. The friends who bonded over cinema video games and music, Protection allows them to fully enjoy the freedom of expression that comes from exploring a new venture.

Moving into fresh sonic territory for their second EP, SEEDS II opens with the glistening bells and complex vocal chop of ‘Thirst Shrine’ which is contrasted by the aggressive rave samples and drums of ‘On Love’. THX takes us through some darker atmospheres and reflective moments with a distinctly retro-futurist sensibility. Picking up the pace with of ‘Something Real’, vocal samples crash against walls of bass and frenzied 303 sequences. Closing out the EP is ‘Back There’, taking us from the underground to new heights in a truly transcendent journey.

Protection is the new project from Iain Cook (Chvrches) and fellow Glasgow-based artist, Scott Paterson. An enduring passion for electronic music informs the foundations of the new duo, who started dropbox-ing sketches over the internet in 2021.
